Location: New Paltz, NY Price: $575.00
Date(s): 09/24/2018 - 09/26/2018 Time:
(Monday – Wednesday)
3 Days, 2 Nights

Today we will begin our tour to the most elegant place in America. This is a Victorian Castle, Mohonk Mountain House. Any season is the perfect season to visit Mohonk with its magnificent views of the Hudson Valley. The resort is nestled in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, built on the deep-blue waters of Lake Mohonk in 1869. This grand 266-room Victorian Castle Hotel is one of America’s oldest family-owned resorts. Since 1869, our sprawling Victorian castle has hosted visitors at this unique 1,200-acre mountaintop setting. Tucked away at the top of the Shawangunk Ridge, Mohonk offers spectacular views of an incredible landscape. They were designated a National Historic Landmark in 1963 for both the Mountain House and its surrounding grounds. Dining at Mohonk is an experience to be remembered. Fine foods prepared from the freshest ingredients are the hallmark of dining at Mohonk. Proper Attire is required. We will have free time to explore the grounds, the Gazebo Gift Shop, the Magnificent Gardens and the Barn Museum or just relax in a rocking chair on the veranda.

In 1869, rocky cliffs rising above a crystal blue glacial lake in the Hudson River Valley inspired Albert Smiley to create Mohonk Mountain House as a resort where guests could renew body, mind, and spirit in a beautiful natural setting. Now, over 140 years later, it is still owned and operated by the Smiley family. What began as a small guest house evolved into a Victorian castle with fanciful turrets, local stone, and gabled frame constructions, set on 1,200 acres of spectacular scenery. Named the “Number One Resort Spa” in the United States. The Spa at Mohonk Mountain House is the resort's first addition in more than 100 years. The 30,000-square-foot-spa wing blends seamlessly with the existing building, enhancing the timeless ambiance of this historic resort. With a rich and storied history, the Mohonk Barn Museum represents quintessential America; a step back in time to the founding of Mohonk Mountain House. With items dating back to the 1800s, the museum showcases Victorian-era carriages, antique farm and kitchen equipment, a 1929 Model A Ford Station Wagon, and so much more.
