Date(s): 06/29/2019 Time:

Once in the 9/11 Museum we begin with our 60-minute guided tour of the museum, examining authentic artifacts to understand what happened on 9/11, how people responded in the aftermath of the attacks, and the history and rebuilding of the World Trade Center.

There is no re-entry after exiting the building. Photography is permitted for private, non-commercial use only and is permitted in all locations unless otherwise posted. Please limit the items that you bring with you. Baggage larger than 8”x17”x19” including backpacks, large umbrellas replicas relojes and other items deemed too large or a danger to exhibits are subject to mandatory storage in the coat room. The Memorial’s twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history. Please REMEMBER once outside there is no re-entry into the museum so it should be the last thing you view. You meet your hostess and board the bus for the ride back home. We’ll make a stop for dinner – on your own – at a service plaza.

Schooner Aquidneck
Location: Newport, RI Price: $100.00
Date(s): 07/20/2019 Time:
Sails in Newport are fantastic! Newport is the sailing capital of the United States and home to one of the prettiest harbors in the world!

Sit back and relax or get involved as we sail you through Newport Harbor, into Narragansett Bay and along the shoreline of Newport’s picturesque Ocean Drive. You’ll get great views of the Pell Bridge; Fort Adams, the largest coastal fortification in North America; Clingstone, “the house on a rock” and Hammersmith Farm, the former Summer Whitehouse of President Kennedy. Vintage America’s Cup boats, lighthouses, super yachts and weekly races are common sights. No sailing experience is required on this tour.

Their captains and crew know the history of the sights and will point out the highlights with light, informal commentary. No two trips are exactly alike since the wind and tide vary daily and we try to sail as much as possible.

Guests are welcome to help raise sails, take the wheel and sail or relax and enjoy the sights. Since we sail in protected waters, the sailing is very smooth. Queasiness, even for our most apprehensive guests, is never an issue!

Whether you’ve never set foot on a sailboat, or are an old salt, Sight sailing cruises in Newport are legendary, enjoyable and fun for all!

The Aquidneck is located on Bowen’s Wharf, which is a historic wharf and the heart of the waterfront district with many excellent restaurants close by. After your sail enjoy lunch – on your own. Then walk around and you can do some shopping & exploring.

Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island
Location: New York City, NY Price: $97.00
Date(s): 07/27/2019 Time:
Today we take the ferry from Liberty State Park, NJ to Ellis Island, then over to Liberty Island, home to the Statue of Liberty for an unforgettable day.

The Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration is located in the Main Building of the former immigration station complex and tells the moving tales of the 12 million immigrants who entered America through the golden door of Ellis Island. Today, the descendants of those immigrants account for almost half of the American people.

The Ellis Island Audio Tour, included with each ferry ticket, can be picked up at the Antenna Audio desk on Ellis Island. The 45-minute audio tour invites visitors to relive the immigrant experience as if they were the "new arrival" and is ideal for individuals with limited time. A special children's audio tour (ages 6-10) is also available.

At Liberty Island, enjoy a self-guided audio tour, also included with each ferry ticket, can be picked up at the Antenna Audio booth on Liberty Island. The audio tour helps visitors learn about the Statue of Liberty while exploring the grounds of Liberty Island and runs 30 - 40 minutes. Again, they offer a children's tour (ages 6-10).

Schedules for the Ranger guided tours are available at the Information Center. Park Rangers provide free English-language guided tours throughout the day which take 30-45 minutes. Tours will provide a general history of the island and of the Statue, including important figures in the Statue's construction, the Statue's many symbols and the 1980s centennial restoration project.

You will have Pedestal Access today. The top of the pedestal is roughly half the height of the entire monument. The pedestal offers panoramic views of Ellis Island, New York, New Jersey and the New York Harbor. All pedestal tickets include access to the Liberty Island Museum.

The Liberty Island Museum chronicles the difficulties and triumphs two countries--France and the United States--overcame to build a symbol of liberty and includes the original torch display. The museum also covers how the Statue of Liberty's interpretation has changed since its construction in 1886. A pedestal or crown ticket is required to access the Liberty Island Museum. Crown access is NOT INCLUDED.

Have lunch – on your own – at either island. Take the 6:00 PM ferry back to Liberty State Park, NJ to board our Wilson Bus back home. We will make a dinner stop – on your own – ending our day with an experience you will never forget.

Listen to the 1,000-pipe Aeolian organ with access to the Hoyt Formal Garden. Visit the Cutting and Kitchen Gardens, the Observatory, Pullman car Sunbeam, Hildene Farm. Don’t forget the exhibits and the 12-plus miles of walking trails. After spending some time here you’ll get the full effect for why Hildene is named one of the favorite places to visit in New England.

Before arriving enjoy a delicious lunch at Raven’s Den Steakhouse & Taproom. Choose between the Steak Tips sautéed with shallots, roasted tomatoes, demi glaze served over penne pasta, the Fish & Chips; premium cod fried in beer batter served with French fries, or Shepard’s Pie with braised sirloin and filet tips layered with mashed potatoes, corn and cheddar cheese. Day 5 – Wednesday, November 13, 2019
Enjoy the breakfast at the hotel, before you will meet your guide in the lobby for another exciting day. Today you will start with a Swamp Tour. For many years people have traveled extensively to locate a unique and exciting form of entertainment that you can only experience here – the famous Manchac Swamp. We invite you to join us for a unique journey back to the early days of Louisiana bayou and swamp explorations. Swamp creatures, seeing the boats daily, recognize them as part of their normal environment. Unafraid and responsive to their boat captain's call, they peek out from underbrush and between moss-draped trees and shrubs, frequently coming directly to the boat. In the safety and comfort of the boat, you can actually come within a few feet of jumping gators. As your boat drifts through the waterways, you will learn about the Louisiana Wetlands, the inhabitants of the swamp, particularly the life and habits of the American alligator, as well as the unique history of the Cajun town of Frenier, located at this property. Tour and visit Houmas House Plantation and Gardens which is so much more than just a tour of a grand antebellum estate. Experience the southern splendor of "The Sugar Palace" when you step into 16 rooms filled with period antiques and Louisiana artwork. Enjoy 38 lush acres of gardens, ponds and a majestic live oak alley. Enjoy the breeze off the Mississippi and navigate through the shadows of ancient oaks. Whether you're being guided through the mansion with its artwork, artifacts and antiques or discovering the beauty of the immaculate gardens and grounds, you will quickly understand that a visit to Houmas House Plantation and Gardens is a unique experience. Lunch today will be served at Café Burnside, located on the Plantation grounds. Afternoon free time to meander around the French Quarter, do a bit of shopping or relax at one of the variety of bars for a refreshing beverage. Dinner tonight will be a special treat at the second oldest restaurant in New Orleans! Located in the heart of the French Quarter, facing the historic French Market, Tujague's (two jacks) has retained its reputation for providing an unforgettable dining experience in the original Creole tradition. Tujague's has been a favorite for over 150 years, entertaining and satisfying the appetites of delightfully robust patrons to the French Quarter. The original Creole tradition of hand selecting fresh produce purchased daily from the open French Quarter market also continues today, ensuring cuisine of the finest possible quality. Sit back, relax and enjoy course after famous course of traditional New Orleans dishes and drinks!

After dinner visit one of Bourbon Street's oldest live Jazz clubs, the New Orleans Jazz Club, which is dedicated to the preservation of "America's classical music". Jazz is one of North America's oldest and most celebrated musical genres, traced back to the 20th century. This legendary spot is where many of the most notable Jazz musicians (Harry Connick, Jr) served their apprenticeships. It is one of only two Jazz clubs still existing on Bourbon Street. Christmas at The Newport Mansions
Location: Newport, RI Price: $79.00
Date(s): 12/08/2019 Time:
Our first stop is Marble House, designed as a summer cottage for Alva and William Kissam Vanderbilt by the society architect Richard Morris Hunt, it was unparalleled in opulence for an American house when it was completed in 1892. Its temple-front portico, which also serves as a porte-cochère, resembles that of the White House. It was a social landmark that helped spark the transformation of Newport from a relatively relaxed summer colony of wooden houses to the now legendary resort of opulent stone palaces. The 50-room mansion required a staff of 36 servants, including butlers, maids, coachmen, and footmen.

Then be dropped off downtown to walk the waterfront and have lunch – on your own. Then meet back and take Newport's Ten Mile Drive that combines that history of a wealthy summer community with a fabulous Newport recreational treasure of public parks and miles of public access shoreline to rank as one of the most popular "drives" in the country. The "Drive" is way more than what you can see in a short and hurried 35-minute bus trip over the route. Many of the home owners seek a quiet summer and have gone to great lengths to insure their tranquil settings. Closed gates are very common and trees are strategically allowed to grow in ways that enhance resident privacy.

We end with The Breakers Mansion; a 70-room mansion that has approximately 65,000 sq. ft. of living space. The Breakers is the grandest of Newport's summer "cottages" and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family's social and financial preeminence in turn of the century America.
