Date(s): 07/19/2024 - 07/21/2024 Time:
July 19 - 21, 2024
(Friday - Sunday)
3 Days, 2 Nights

Day 1 – Friday, July 19, 2024
Today, we travel to Boothbay Harbor, from its roots as a 17th-century fishing village to now, one of Maine’s classic coastal destinations. Between its rich history, quaint local shops and boutiques, delicious dining, and world-class boat excursions, there are all kinds of fun things to do in Boothbay Harbor. We’ll begin at the Boothbay Railway Village Museum, spend the morning discovering 35-acres of Maine history brought to life! Step back in time for a peek at Maine and the way life used to be. Nowhere else in New England can you ride the rails behind an authentic steam locomotive surrounded by historic Maine buildings preserved in a recreated village of aged and vintage buildings, assembled from across Maine, and view a collection of 60 antique autos or experience model trains as never before. When you visit the museum, you’ll learn about how technologies like steam engines and the automobile changed life along the coast of Maine between 1850 and 1950.

Then we’ll arrive at Wharf Street Restaurant for lunch before checking into our hotel. Choose between the New England Clam Chowder or salad. Then choose between the Flame grilled 8-oz Strip Steak with mushrooms demi-glace, fingerling potatoes and vegetable of the day, Chicken Piccata, 6-oz chicken breast with a lemon, lime caper butter, fingerling potatoes and vegetable of the day or Stuffed Haddock, crab stuffed haddock with garlic herb breadcrumbs, rice and vegetable of the day. All entrees include New England Clam Chowder & Maine Blueberry Pie (or cake of the day) for dessert.

Next, we’ll arrive at the Bluebird Ocean Point Inn, overlooking a rocky coastline and Card Cove. This relaxed resort occupies a cluster of buildings including an inn, a motel, a lodge and cottages. Enjoy a hot breakfast buffet provided in their low-key restaurant, which has panoramic windows offering water and sunset views. There's also a hot tub and an outdoor pool.

For dinner we’ll arrive at the Carousel Music Theater for dinner & a show, which creates a unique country environment. As you enter the barn-like building, you are greeted by a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Although the setting is informal, the performers are definitely professionals. Enjoy a 3-course meal to include soft drink, coffee/tea. Choose between the Pot Roast with carrots & potatoes, Italian Chicken Breast with rice & summer vegetables, Garlic Basil Pesto Pasta, Hot Pulled Pork Sandwich on white roll or Lobster Roll on toast bun with lettuce & tomato. All sandwiches come with french fries, cole slaw & pickle. Then, see the show “Dominic’s Diner” where folks gather to dine, dream and dance! Enjoy a 1950’s “stroll” down memory lane as their young performers serve up some great treats and good times. Meals Included – Lunch, Dinner.

Day 2 – Saturday, July 20, 2024
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before arriving at Cap’n Fish’s Cruises. Board the Maine Puffin Cruise and see firsthand the National Audubon Society’s success in reestablishing a puffin colony on Eastern Egg Rock. Truly a magnificent “Seafari” for all nature lovers with seals, blue heron, an occasional whale, and other coastal wildlife along the way. The cruise is narrated by the National Audubon’s Project Puffin, so you get the history of puffins and the Eastern Egg Rock restoration directly from people involved with the project. We’ll also pass by 3 lighthouses (Ram, Burnt, and Pemaquid Point), see many islands, coastline, Fisherman’s Island, Ocean Point, Spruce Point, Tumbler Island, White Islands, and much more! This is much more than just a ride out to see the puffins!

Then be dropped off in Downtown Boothbay Harbor, filled with something for everyone; from shops to restaurants and more, having lunch on your own in this small but packed downtown. After lunch we will depart back to our hotel to relax and enjoy the property. Dinner included at Ocean Point Kitchen. Choose between the Shrimp Scampi with roasted garlic & basil, Grilled Steak Tips with charred broccolini & jasmine rice, Seared Chicken with charred broccolini & jasmine rice. Meals Included – Breakfast, Dinner.

Day 3 – Sunday, July 21, 2024
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we check out. Before departing Boothbay, we will arrive at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, the largest botanical garden in New England. It consists of 323-acres, 19-acres of which are ornamental and themed gardens featuring native plants of Maine and others suited to northern coastal conditions. Stop and relax a moment in the Vayo Mediation Garden, or stroll through the Lerner Garden of Five Senses or watch butterflies soar and pollinate in the Native Butterfly House. A wonderful addition to the gardens are the Giant Trolls, known as The Guardians of the Seeds by artist Thomas Dambo. Don’t miss the kinetic Wind Orchid or Chiseled Glass Orb sculptures. If you want a cup of coffee or to grab a bite to eat, the Snack Shack and Café are open, serving foods prepared with local ingredients and Maine-made products. Be sure to pop into the Gardenshop for a delightful gift from the wide selection of handmade, locally crafted items.

We’ll make a stop at Muddy Rudder for a late lunch on your own before ending the memorable weekend. Meals Included – Breakfast.
